Now that many of us are actually having real summers that include traveling, family barbeques, and beach days I wanted to put together some of the essentials that get me through the warmer months. Some of these items I have been using for a while and some I discovered recently.
Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint
I tend to stray away from foundation during the warmer months and opt for either no makeup at all or a lightweight skin tint. Fenty’s Eaze Drop skin tint gives the perfect amount of coverage and manages to stay on even through sweat. Of course, they come in a variety of shades for many different skin tones. I wear shade 420 in Fenty Matte foundation and I matched it with shade 18 in the skin tint.
Skims/ Hollywood Fashion Body Tape
In the summer many of the tops and dresses aren’t really bra-friendly, which is why I opt to use body tape to make sure everything stays in place. It stinks when you see a top that’s very cute and you are intimidated to wear it due to the fact you don’t want your bra showing.
There are a lot of great bra solutions out there, that also come in many different skin tones. I currently use Skims body tape which unfortunately hasn’t been in stock in a while. Hollywood Fashion has a similar tape that I hear does a perfect job of lifting and securing. I also have heard great reviews from women with a larger bust.
Pro Tip: When applying body tape make sure you have no lotion or oils on your skin so the tape has a firm grip onto your skin. I have even gone into a pool with the Skims body tape and it never came off. Hopefully, Kim K restocks this product soon.
If you are concered with nipple coverage, I also sometimes use these Silicone Cover Ups. They come in a variety of shades for different skin tones.
Easy ACC Mini Hand Held Fan
Last summer, when all I could do is take long walks. Now, this mini handheld fan from Easy ACC is a staple in my purse. It comes with three different speeds and one charge can last for nine hours. The fan charges through a UBS. It’s also perfect for a day at the beach or places it on the table when you are enjoying dinner outdoors.
Sunscreen: Black Girl Sunscreen and Super Goop!
Sunscreen is a must all year round but in the Summer when I’m spending a lot more time outside I make sure it’s part of my skincare routine. The sun can be your worse enemy when it comes to hyperpigmentation and wrinkles
Blackgirl Sunscreen and Super Goop! are my favorite sunscreens when it comes to blending into darker skin tones. They don’t feel sticky when applied to the skin and can be worn easily under makeup.
Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum cream
If there is one thing that is constantly in my basket at Sephora.com it’s this Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. According to the brand, one of these Vegan-moisturizers is sold every 28 seconds at Sephora and I’m not surprised. It has the perfect summer coconut scent and does a great job at blurring skin texture.
Bug Bite Thing
Being outdoors more can lead to those annoying mosquito bites. I’ve heard great things about the product Bug Bite Thing. This product removes the venom and reduces the skin reaction to the bug bite. Bug Bite Thing has over 1,700 reviews on Amazon and is a fan favorite. Perfect to bring along for a camping trip or an island vacation.
