Dry Brushing has become the rage over the last year when it comes to detoxifying the body and increasing lymphatic drainage. For those of you who haven’t heard of this process- you basically brush with a stiff bristle brush on various areas on your body. I know..sounds aggressive and not a lot of fun. But ya know..I had to try it! This treatment is supposed to enhance blood flow and exfoliate the skin. It also helps to improve the appearance of cellulite. I bit the bullet and purchased the Goop Dry Brush from Sephora.
The method to dry brushing is to start from your feet and brush upwards towards your heart in a circular motion. You are also supposed to dry brush before you take a shower due to the exfoliation of your skin. Make sure you don’t press too hard on the brush to avoid damaging the skin. Dry brushing should take a total of three to five minutes.
I tried dry brushing for about a week and I can’t say I felt a drastic difference in regards to inflammation. I did however notice the texture on my legs looked a lot smoother to the eye which is ALWAYS welcomed. I will continue to try it, especially since we are in the summer months.
