In the past, I found it difficult to find a sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast or make my skin freak out. As I have stated before I have sensitive skin so I am very careful about what products I apply. In the past sunscreens have caused me to break out not only on my face but on my shoulders as well after applying. Last summer before a trip to Italy I went on a search for a sunscreen that would be suitable for a week-long trip on the Almafi coast. After doing some digging I came across Supergood! Unseen Sunscreen. This sunscreen has become a complete game-changer for me. It doesn’t have the texture of typical sunscreens, you know, that white thick creamy texture that goes on your skin like thick wall paint. This has more of a texture of a primer, I would like to compare it to the texture of the Smash Box primer. Due to the fact this sunscreen contains silicones with low hazard EWG ratings, it eliminates the greasy and sometimes heavy feeling that most sunscreens have sometimes. There is never a white cast and I also can reapply it easily if I’m wearing makeup. I also find it does a great job of keeping my makeup in place. Now the biggest win is that I have zero breakouts with this sunscreen. It is honestly so important to wear sunscreen on a daily basis no matter was skin color you are. As a woman of color, it is great to see that there is something on the market that doesn’t leave me looking like Casper the friendly ghost.
I have also tried their Supergoop! Mineral Sunscreen for my body. I wore this last year on my trip to Jamaica and it goes on very smoothly. It is white in color and I didn’t have to rub my skin a bunch of times just for it to blend in with my skin tone. Again, zero breakouts, and I felt very comfortable to reapplying throughout the days in the sun.
Also, one thing to note, this company has no relation to the Goop brand owned by Gwyneth Paltrow. I actually learned this in the interview with the founder Holly Thaggard on the Second Life podcast. Here is a link to the interview if you want to hear how Holly built the Supergoop! brand.
