I can finally post my first “travel” post, even though all I did was travel to another borough in NYC haha. I decided to give myself a change of scenery and book two nights at the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn during the Juneteenth weekend. What sold me to this hotel was their rooftop pool and the close location to where my Juneteenth events were taking place. The pool vibe is very chill and you’re able to book a specific time slot throughout the day so it doesn’t get overly packed. Note if you want to bring an outside guest to the pool it’s a $200 charge.
I’m still not completely comfortable with hopping on the plane at the moment so a road trip to a surrounding city is perfect for me at the moment.
Here are a few reasons that make staycations great if you’re like me and planes aren’t your thing at the moment.
- Cost-Efficient – Knocking out airfare reducing the cost of a trip by a lot! Especially now with airlines hiking up their fees now that vaccines are available.
- Comfortability– Staycations gets rid of the prep time it takes to do your numerous Google searches on “The Best Things To Do” in XYZ. Being that I’m an official New Yorker, I knew which train to take where, and where I could get a bacon and egg sandwich without feeling hesitant to venture out on my own. Yes.. if you are from NYC you know we are SERIOUS about our breakfast sandwiches/bagels.
- New Discoveries: We can all be creatures of habit sometimes so it’s also a great way to discover new restaurants or attractions you may have overlooked.
- Less Travel Time: One of the most exhausting things about traveling is the time it takes in the airport, checking bags, and the possible flight delays. Staycations eliminate the stress that traveling can sometimes cause. I took a 15 to 20 minute Uber ride and I was ready to start my Staycation!
- Home is still close: If you forget something you can always head back to your home to grab it. Will it be a pain? Yes, but hey it’s better than forgetting it in a whole other state altogether!
- Pets may be allowed: In some staycation, you can also bring your pet, depending on if you’re staying in a hotel or Air BnB. But your furry one won’t have to be left all by itself.
I hope everyone is able to find the perfect Staycation that will give you the break from the day to day that I’m sure many of us need by now.
