The battle with Maskne is a real one. After over a year of wearing a mask, my skin finally decided to freak out from the constant mask-wearing. Obviously having maskne beats getting any virus so I’m all about masking up! Maskne is caused by the hot air that gets trapped in your mask when you breathe or talk. The warm air creates a humid environment that is ideal for bacterial growth. This is why it’s so important to change or wash your mask often.I decided to try out Peace Out Acne serum after reading positive reviews on how it treats maskne. I already use their Peace Out Acne dots so I decided to give their serum a try. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I applied it to my face in the morning and evening diligently. After a week I noticed my maskne had subsided tremendously. It also didn’t dry out my skin like how many acne treatments tend to do. My only gripe with this product is the amount of product you get for the price. The serum cost $35 for 1 oz/ 30 mL. I felt like I finished my bottle very quickly. Other than the amount of product, I will say this product is a winner.
If you want to test out the serum, Sephora does sell a Peace Out Clear Skin Squad for $25.00.
Below are a few ways to prevent maskne:
- Switch to 100% cotton mask because they are breatheable and less likely to make you sweat
- Wash your mask regularly with hot water and if you can toss those disposable mask often.
- Be deligent with you skin care routine. No room for laziness here! Wash, Chemical Exfoliate and Moisturizer! Look for a products that include salicylic acid, retinoids and benzoyl peroxide.
